How We Work

We’re a team of creatives, operators, and problem-solvers who believe great experiences come from both imagination and precision

Story First

We create worlds, not just events. Every detail starts with the story.

Design with Purpose

Nothing is random. Every element is intentional and built to elevate the guest experience.

Create Emotion

We don’t just build environments—we create moments people feel and remember.

Execute Flawlessly

Behind every seamless experience is precision, planning, and total ownership.

Stay Flexible

We adapt fast, solve problems, and deliver—no matter what.

Own It

We do what we say, take responsibility, and follow through. Every time.

Make It Better

We refine, evolve, and push every experience further—every time.

Celebrate Big

We recognize wins, fuel momentum, and enjoy the ride.

What detail do guests never see but makes the biggest impact?

Edge: Curiously Imaginative Creative Problem Solving

Song: “Jaded” - Ms. White

What detail do guests never see but makes the biggest impact?
The All-Info / One-Sheet. The true brain of the operation.
What makes EPIC’s culture unique from your perspective?
EPIC is full of incredibly talented people who bring strong ideas and a lot of pride to their work. At times it can feel like a room full of all-stars, each with their own superpower. The best moments are when those strengths line up behind the same mission—and you realize the team isn’t just a collection of standouts, it’s the Avengers.
What’s an EPIC moment you’ll never forget?
The Media & Friends & Family Night of Dark Horizon stands out. We opened over an hour late, working alongside Fire Marshals while final build work wrapped in real time. Teams moved fast across departments, holding cast and operations in place until we were cleared. When guests finally entered—even briefly—seeing them experience something we had all fought to bring to life made it unforgettable.
What do you love doing outside of work?
I can usually be found stalking antique malls for haunted clowns and creepy artwork, or happily camped out at home with trashy reality TV, an unfinished puzzle, and a city-building game in the 1800s.
Dream travel destination?
The fjords of Norway are high on my dream travel list. Between the dramatic fjords, deep folklore traditions, and landscapes that feel straight out of a storybook, it seems like the natural homeland for wandering gnomes.

What makes EPIC’s culture unique from your perspective?
EPIC's culture values creativity and teamwork equally. Big ideas happen because people trust each other to bring them to life.
What’s one story you’re proud of telling?
The story of how I became a member of the EPIC team, I got a phone call on a Tuesday on my lunch break, I accepted by dinner time, and was on a plane by Thursday...haven't looked back since.
What do you love doing outside of work?
Exploring the world with my family is my true passion.
Favorite weekend ritual?
Coffee on my couch with my husband and dogs, then trying something new, whether that's a new brewery or restaurant, or even an escape room with friends.

Song: “Wild Animals” - Trampled by Turtles

What’s an EPIC moment you’ll never forget?
Building the iconic surfboard tree at Turtle Bay Resort (formerly) stands out. On a tight timeline, two of us spent hours prepping a large-scale, multi-tiered installation using evolving reference materials. Despite the challenges, we delivered a finished piece that was later featured and celebrated by local news.
What detail do guests never see but makes the biggest impact?
The days, weeks, and months of preparation spent ahead of the event.
What inspired you to pursue experience-driven work?
I’m drawn to energy that activates and inspires—but it’s the people, from guest reactions to the connections built with my teams, who make me stay.

Denise

Private Events Manager

Edge: Poised, Professional, Creative, Diplomatic, Intuitive, Resourceful

Song: "Don't You Worry 'bout a Thing" - Stevie Wonder

What’s a piece of advice you wish someone gave you when you started?
Relationships are just as important as results. People may forget details, but they remember how you made them feel during high-pressure moments.
What does a successful opening night feel like to you?
It feels electric yet effortless — when guests are present, the atmosphere has energy and warmth, and the months of planning disappear into a beautifully shared experience.
What’s an EPIC moment you’ll never forget?
One EPIC moment I’ll never forget was shortly after starting my role, when I was told I had just three weeks to help produce a world-class Chocolate Festival — the first one since the pandemic. It was an enormous undertaking with intense timelines, moving parts, and expectations, but our team came together, stayed focused, and delivered an incredible experience. Seeing thousands of guests reconnect through joy, food, and community after such a difficult period made the accomplishment especially meaningful.
What detail do guests never see but makes the biggest impact?
Guests rarely see the level of preparation, coordination, and problem-solving happening behind the scenes. The strength of our incredible production and operations team is truly the backbone of every successful event. The goal is always to make the experience feel effortless, welcoming, and fun — even though it takes tremendous teamwork and precision to make that happen.
What’s one story you’re proud of telling?
One story I’m proud of helping tell is how Fairchild brings people from all around the world together to celebrate nature, science, and our shared humanity. Through educational programs, private experiences, festivals, exhibitions, and community events, we create spaces where people of all backgrounds can connect, feel inspired, and experience moments of beauty together.
How do you prepare for what can’t be predicted?
I prepare for as much as possible, stay calm under pressure, and trust the strength of my team. In live events, there will always be unexpected moments, so being adaptable, resourceful, and solution-oriented is just as important as the planning itself.
What makes EPIC’s culture unique from your perspective?
What makes EPIC’s culture unique from my perspective is that it genuinely supports the vision and strengths of the individual. There is trust, creative freedom, and the opportunity to grow, explore new ideas, and take meaningful ownership of programs and experiences. That level of support encourages both innovation and collaboration.
How do partnerships elevate large-scale cultural events?
Partnerships are essential to elevating large-scale cultural events — you simply can’t do much without strong, trusted collaborators. The best partners help carry the vision, balance the workload, and bring specialized expertise that strengthens the overall experience.
What inspired you to pursue experience-driven work?
’ve always been inspired by the ephemeral nature of experience-driven work — spending weeks or months building toward one meaningful moment. There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching an idea evolve from concept to completion and then seeing guests fully immersed in the experience you worked so hard to create. To give people an opportunity to escape the ordinary, feel present, and leave uplifted, inspired, and almost floating on a cloud afterward — that feeling is truly priceless.
What’s the most random skill you’ve used on the job?
At this point, I’ve bartended, MC’d programs, and made flower crowns — all in the same day - which feels pretty accurate for the live events industry.
What hobbies or creative outlets keep you inspired?
Gardening, caring for my plants, exploring nature, and spending time with my dog keep me grounded and inspired. I also love discovering beautiful spaces, creative experiences, music, food, and the small details that make people feel connected and welcomed.
What do you love doing outside of work?
Outside of work, I genuinely enjoy slowing down and embracing quiet moments. After working in fast-paced, high-energy environments, I value time to recharge, enjoy nature, spend time with my dog, and appreciate a little peace and silence.
What's your go-to coffee order or signature drink?
My go-to coffee order is a brown sugar oatmilk shaken espresso — warm or lightly chilled, but never poured over a mountain of ice… ick. Smooth, comforting, and just the right amount of energy.
Favorite weekend ritual?
Having nothing to do, no place to go, and all day to do it. Slow mornings, good coffee, quiet moments, and the freedom to move through the day without rushing are pure luxury to me.
Dream travel destination?
Japan. I would love to explore the temples, architecture, gardens, and food culture — the beautiful contrast between the ancient and the modern.
What’s on your bucket list?
Publishing my cookbook and holiday entertaining guide is very important to me. I’d also love to continue traveling, experiencing different cultures, and seeing as much of the world as possible through its people, food, traditions, and everyday life.
